Old ladies

This past sunday, on women's day we took our three girls for a long walk on some nearby woods to enjoy the afternoon sunset and I decided to take my camera along.
I barely have time for such walks nowadays, with college and work I sometimes wish the days would have more than 24 hours...I hadn't seen them so happy for a long long time and it warmed my heart to share such a good moment with them. 

On the photo you can see my two eldest girls, they are sisters and were abandoned on the cold winter streets 15 years ago. Only this past year they've shown signs of getting old, one is losing her vision due to cataracts and the other is struggling to hear and is quite sensitive to loud or clapping sounds. Still they keep so much of their young selves, their joy, their love and their amazing companionship. 
Since Tomás died I've tried to dedicate as much time as I can to them, his death made me realize that they are in fact old and can vanish in a matter of seconds just like he did. It scares me to realize that all my dogs are elderly dogs and won't be around for much longer, the same dogs that kept me sane during my adolescence, the dogs that made me happy,kept me company and taught me to love unconditionally.
